Sounds like you may have been in control pa, windows update, get updates for other Microsoft updates, find out more, check the box and it installs Microsoft Update (so creative !). It’s just a guess. Look in programs and features, remove it. Or it is somewhere in Office but that would be odd (yea right!). I turn off most auto updates. Do “tell me but let me decide”. Feel the power!!

I have MS Office 2013 installed.
But I only installed Word and Excel.
The 2 files I blocked with firewall are:
msohtmed.exe
winword.exe

The winword.exe I know is Word. Just to make sure Office is completely blocked, I clicked on Windows Updates
and I have nothing to update for MS Office 2013. I only have the original install for Word and Excel.
No nagging for office updates

Just to provide additional guide lines, when you install Office, any version, make sure you choose custom install and:
1. uncheck anything that has to do with the web or any program you have never used.
2. for all programs that you have used, i.e., word, make sure you right click and select “Run all from my computer or my pc”
Those 1’s you see beside the checkboxes can each trigger the configuration of Microsoft Office, make sure there’s no ones in the custom install section including on any subcomponent.
The advice shared above is also good.
