Microsoft Toolkit and it’s “backup/restore” option for Windows and Office Activation?

August 2nd, 2016

So, got a question….
The tool seems to backup “both”, not allowing you to create “separate” backups of the applications?
The reason I’m asking is because both my Windows 8.1 (now 10) and my Office 2013 were able to be “legally” activated using special keys.
I’ve of course saved my Activations using Toolkit, so I will never have a problem.
My issue however is my computer actually has a legal key with it, I simply wasn’t able to create a restore disk, so I ended up using another “legal” key to put Win8.1Pro on it and was able to get a good Office key to activate it.
So, what I’m wanting to do is, I’m wanting to install Win 8 OEM, activate it, update to Win10, activate it, and then my OS can be actually legal.
My problem is, how do I use only my Office 2013 activation when they are both combined?
On Restore does it ask me which I want to restore? I can’t remember. Do I need to use another way to save the Office only activation?
Is there a way to save only the Office activation from the MS Toolkit’s backup, or to remove the Windows activation part so only the Office part works on restore?
Advice? Thanks

I use Advanced Tokens Manager. It backups the activation data and keys for Windows & Office for later restore.

Thanks, but I don’t think that is going to work….. There is this notice on the website.
Windows 8 and Office 2013 have the same activation system, so the backup is saved in one place called of ‘Activation Backup’, that stores all license data for Windows and Office.
So it seems that I can’t separate the activations?
The thing is is I don’t know if I can reactivate Office 2013 without a backup if I try to stick it on a different associated windows key?
So let me ask this. I’ve used a VLK key to activate Office 2013.
If I stick it on a different Windows that’s also using a different Windows key, though the Office Key will be the same, will it work?
Does Office also associate with the Hardware or what?

I truly appreciate your work to try and help, but how to use Toolkit is not my problem.
My problem is I need to activate Office 2013 on the same computer but with a totally new Windows Key, I’m wanting to use the original key that came with the computer, because I previously activated it with another key and OS version.
So, I’ll be able to activate my Windows because it’s a legit key when I use an OEM Win8 disk, then update to Win10 so I’ll have that activated.
My problem is, while I currently have a Backup Activation with MS Toolkit, the activations are “together” for Windows and Office, and that activation is for another Windows key.
If I try to use toolkit to restore the activations, it’s Windows part will screw up my legit activation of Windows that I have on it, because the backup activation is for another Windows key, not the one I’m currently using.
So, I’m wondering if there is a way to only backup the Office Activation, so I can only restore it when I redo Windows with my truly legit key?
OR, will Office 2013 online activate with this new Windows if I just install it with it’s key I previously activated? Does Office activation also remember the hardware, or is it associated with a particular windows and key, like the above quote seems to say?
In other words, I’m wanting to be able to activate my Office 2013 on my new OS and key, but I can’t use the previous backed up activation because it’s a different OS & key.

Firstly:This tools can also activate your office on new system & backup it after activation.
Secondly:your office 2013(unactivated),use this tools for activate it on win 10(or use your genuine key,if failed,do phone activation method)+win 10 genuine(You installed over Original win 8,& get Win 10 key)already activated
Finally:Now,use this tools for backup both activation(Newly activated office)+Already activated win 10.
I haven’t said that “it won’t mess up the new Windows activation? ” though
Windows 10 is spying on almost everything you do,even your surfing habit. So,if u stick on windows 10,Use Antispy tool for win 10.

Hmmm…..
So, I guess you’re saying that if I restore the Activation that’s for a different OS & key on my new OS and Key, that it won’t mess up the new Windows activation?
I don’t want my new Windows Activation to be overwritten by my old Windows/Office backup…..
Maybe you’re not understanding something……
I didn’t use MS Toolkit to “activate” my OS and Office…. I used LEGIT Key’s to do so, but they obviously wasn’t mine, so they likely can’t be activated again online or by phone.
I only used Toolkit to “backup” my Activation to make it easy and able to activate Windows and Office if I ever needed to re-install.
So, I’m wanting to use my “real” legit Windows key to activate my OS, but still be able to use the not actually mine legit key for Office 2013 (which will have no more activations) on the new OS, with new key and real activation.
Basically, I’m just worried that MS will one day “ban” the key I’m currently using for the OS, so I want to use the actual key that came with my Computer, the one that’s in the BIOS. But I still want to use the Office 2013 key and activation that they likely won’t ban, but if they do I might upgrade to the new one anyway.
