How to overclock inbuilt graphics?

March 5th, 2014

Well, saw some videos of intel core i3 running GTA 4.. Well, there was a video where the person overclocked the iGPU inside to 1000mhz.. Anyone who knows how to? If yes, and if safe enough, I will think of buying a new cooler for my PC… Yeah, currently on stock cooler..
EDIT if u want the link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8gndNG_n_ghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FYYBlV_wh8&feature=related
Pleas, i really wanna do this..

Bro did you search google?
With such a popular question there is bound to be an answer on overclocking forums…
I’ve done a search for you:

is it safe? whats the max i can go with stock cooler?

It depends on your motherboard…
I personally wouldn’t want to push past 3.5ghz with the stock cooler… But you need to keep an eye on the cpu temperature… a utility called coretemp will do this. Anything above 65 degress at 100% load and the cpu is too close to the max temp.
TBH though unless your doing stuff that is intensive on the CPU I don’t think you will see a difference in real world terms for just a 0.5ghz overclock.
The best upgrade in todays market is going from having windows on a hard drive to a ssd.
Hope this helps

talking about the inbuilt graphics here….. As if i get success, i will not buy GPU and put a sound card instead..

You can overclock it as much as possible.. it will make little to no difference to the game performance from it.
It’s never going to be able to replace a dedicated gpu to allow you to play games.

Just see any of those videos.

there are videos of people flying like birds… you going to try that too?
overclocking will make little to no difference in the gpu,s gaming performance.
just buy a card already, how many threads do you need to make? you don’t listen to the truth.
GTA does perform better with cpu overclocking to get more frames.
The frequency of the GPU will make hardly any difference.
In the video the cpu is overclocked to 3.8ghz. this will be making more of a impact than the gpu core.
Overall this is not going to be a good graphics solution if the intention is gaming. a decent cheap Graphics card is needed at the least.
ALSO and most importantly here note there is a average of 25fps in those videos (i would say this is about the minimum playable framerate)
this will not hold true through the game and much will be completely unplayable with fps drops to single figures.

There is no such thing as magic in the computer world, and there isnt really a trick out there that only a few people know either. If In built graphics cards could have been OCed to run GTA IV that smoothly at this resolution, you’d think nVidia and ATI would have been out of business a very long time ago

depends on what ig graphic he is using… if old i3 then oclocked to 1200 mhz ( only few samples can ake it stable) will give a gta 4 playable to low details and resolution…
new i3 (sandy bridge) integrated gpus are much more powerful enought to compete lowe spec dedicated graphics .. if overclocked they behave good ….
to overclock your ig you need h67 chipsed and neet to change voltage and frequency from within the bios of your motherboard.
if you have old h55 mobo for old i3 – i5 cpus then you can overclock at the same way but your gpu wont be that powerful…. anyway you can oc your integrated gpu
@ stock cooler as tdp of those are very low… i experienced my self a i3 530 graphics @ 1100 mhz stable with stock cooler… temps increased of some 4 -5 degrees @full load…… if you plan to oc also the cpu core then you are gonna definetly need a new cooler but just for gpu it is not necesary

At the end of the day, you are looking to overclock the graphics with a standard intel cooler.
You are not going to overclock it enough to see too much of a real world performance boost, without hitting dangerous cpu temperatures.
Either get a graphics card for 50 dollars or pounds where ever you are and you will see a massive difference.
Even the cheapest latest gen (ati 6450) which is much more powerful than the CPU’s integrated graphics…

Trying to be a good overclocker with experience here? I will upgrade my PC, but if i wait for a while, ill get i7, which requires ext. GPU.. But something before that? Because that’ll be some years.. :/

to play gta on max you need a few things.
a) decent cpu or an overclocked 1.
b) a dedicated gpu with a good bandwidth.
c) 4GB ram
id just get a gpu first without upgrading a CPU.
then if still no success id get a better cooler for my CPU and overclock it.
