How to convert VOB to AVI?

August 5th, 2016

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could explain how i can convert VOB files I have on the PC too a AVI (divx).
I used a program called Format Factory, but I can’t get a nice quality, I’m looking to be able to make them the same quality as a standard scene release DVD quality, I don’t know if that is the programs fault or I need a codec or something?
I also have AutoGK, but haven’t really jumped into it yet, looks a bit hard!
If anyone would be as good as too tell me what program, codec and settings I should be using, I would be very grateful, thanks.

This is a fantastic how to tutorial to help convert from a dvd to avi. I do believe part of the process is to put the files from the dvd on your computer in vob format so that part is already done for you.
I have followed this tutorial from start to finish very successfully

Unfortunately, they discontinued AVI from the newest version of handbrake. They say it’s “a rough beast and obsolete”.
I suggest you try TMPGEnc Xpress.

I use clonedvdmobile by slysoft – it is very quick and you can make the quality fit to your requirements and is very easy to use – I have used everything – from handbrake to vdub – and clone in my opinion is by far the best for ripping dvd format
