August 4th, 2016

Im downloading Fallout 3 from here:

I don’t know why there are a .dvd and .iso, can anyone explain? does it have to do with the dual layer?

Answer #1
Step 1: download ABGX 360: http://abgx360.net/
To use: just open the .exe and select the far right tab and set the region for your console. Then hit the weird shaped start buttin below and it will do everything for you. If your disk is 3rd wave then you’ll need to download the 3rd wave files (also at the above link). It should be all green though. If ABGX360 says it’s good, then burn it with CloneCD
Step 2: Download CloneCD: http://www.google.com?t=1721964&highlight=

Thanks, but can’t i just use imgburn?
Answer #3
You can open the .dvd file in imgburn. This file basically sets the Layerbreak (layer 1 -> layer 2)
Make sure you burn the game at a low speed (2.4)
Answer #4
i’d recommend to u to use clonecd. and burn disk with max 4X speed. otherwise games might not work.
Answer #5
Imgburn at 2.4x will work just fine.
Answer #6
is it possible to burn games using my dvd ram drive or would i need to get new dvd drive.
Answer #7
Needs to be a dual layer burner. Your drive may support it but it’s unlikey as very few DVD-RAM drives do. I’d recommend getting an external LG drive as I’ve been able to use really cheap disks and get 100% success with them (as oppose to my built in drive that only liked Vertabrim)
Answer #8
Yeah use the lowest burn setting possible, either that or something close to 4x. The slower the disk spins, the more precise the data is and therefore the smoother your game will play. Unless of course you want to buy the thousand dollar equipment that is uber precise and burns with multiple lasers…

hi sori to hijack the thread ( allthough it could be useful info )
i have recently bought some cheaper disks than verbatims (i got 25 for price of 10 verbatims) i think they are called arita and i am having major problems getting them to work..
i have used xdvd mulleter to check the images and that says that they are all fine.. i them burnt them using imgburn (using the .dvd files and creating my own for the layer break if one wasnt included in the download which isnt often).
the games i have tried are wet, NFS Shift, PES10 and way of the samurai 3.
now when i try them WotS3 works (allthough its the wrong region so it doesnt load the game but the xbox picks it up and detects it as that game) but none of the others do wet worked once when i origonally tested it after burning but hasnt since..none of the others even get picked up by the dashboard….
im not sure what firmware im running ( i got a dodgy man to do mine lol ) allthough i do know its hitatchi and im pretty sure i can run wave3 games (ive got UFC which i know is a wave3 game)..
as i said i have used verbatims before and got 10 out of 10 working fine…i may go buy some verbatims on monday but hopefully theres an easier (and less wastefull) option
Answer #11
Verbatim and Sony are the only brands worth using.
If you MUST get something cheaper, get Memorex, but that’s about it.
Ridata is GARBAGE, and that is likely why your games won’t boot.
Answer #12
ok thanks for info….it looks like i got a few more coasters around the home hehe..
im just puzzled as to why WotS3 allways works but none of the others do….just my luck that the one that worked happens to be the wrong region and thus doesnt work in the end….
and here i was thinking great i save myself 20-25 quid and now i end up losing about that….sods law eh hehehe
from now on i might just stick to verbatims…

Answer #14
Buy a vertabim R+DL and burn with ImgBurn That will work fine!
Answer #15
If you buy crap, you will get crap. Try burning at lowest possible setting. Also avoid bumping or moving the computer while burning. Are your disks clean? Once I bought a batch of DVD-Rs that were dusty…
Verbatim, Sony = Excellent
Maxell = Good
All others = Below Average to Terrible
Answer #16
If you get a Pioneer 111d drive you can use Bulkpak disks. They cost 10 for 25. The drive costs 20. 25 Verts cost ~20. You do the maths.
