only works with vista/7 im running gamerman xp..

Download and install Tuneup Utilities 2011.
Go to customize Windows and then click “Personalize options and behaviours”
In the effects tab scroll down to the usage area, and uncheck the box that says “Show Windows Version on desktop”

as Speedle said, TweakUI has turn off “”Show Windows Version on desktop” option as well

i formatted again, after having a good look threw the tweeked OS i had. didnt have all the functions working as i wanted. thanks for trying tho
