How big is my laptop cd drive?

January 21st, 2020

Hi I want to buy a replacement hdd bay to replace my cd drive as I don’t use my cd drive. Now when I measure I get 9mm but if I measure from the face plate of the cd/dvd drive I get 12mm so which is it? I think its 9mm right?
Answer #1
It the face plate is 12mm then it should be a 9mm HDD bay you require (mine is/was), the faceplate from the cd/dvd drive can be removed and placed on the HDD bay so it appears as was (so to speak).

It is 12mm and I am asking amazon for a replacement so I can return the 9mm and get the 12mm version but it does work but I can’t screw the HDD caddy to the machine so its just hooked up to the machine but without the screw holding it.
Answer #3
Sorry about that (but I did say should be 9mm), normally the faceplate is wider than the bay so it fits snugly and looks tidy, a slightly longer screw would hold it firmly.

I thought so to do but I measured from the faceplate and the body the body tells me its 9mm and the faceplate tells me its 12mm but the HDD caddy won’t stay put because its to small and the screw can’t hold in place because its to small to be held by the bay.
