Helping with 2 laptops connection
August 6th, 2016
i have 2 laptops .
i want to connect them together .
the both are connected to the WLAN, the router .
how can i do this with windows Vista ?
Thanks
any help ?
Use a Crossover Cable
open network control panel and run the wizard. if they both are wireless (and i think they all are these days) you can set a cable free network. Vista gets a bashing around here, but it sets up networks almost fully automatically, even easier than XP. If you haven’t got SP1 then i reccomend you apply it to both. It will help to link to Win XP systems as the DHCP allocation is differant.
You can use an LAN cable and run it between the 2 computers or through the router. Make sure you both have the same Workgroup. To check the workgroup do this: Right click on My Computer, click properties, on vista it will say on the first page what your workgroup is. To change the workgroup: In the same screen click ‘Advanced System Settings’ to the left, Click the tab labeled Computer Name, Click change and change it to whatever you want the workgroup to be called (do this on both computers) then it will ask you to restart click OK and then it should be networked
Let me know if this works for you
ok Im trying it now , 5 min plz
its not working man
ok do as said above and have both Cat5 cables connected (ethernet) and then go to my network places>>view connections and setup new connection. Now after doing so on both computers with the same settings, go to view connections and right click it>>properties>>tcp/ip>>properties and assign each pc its own IP eg 192.168.1.1 for one and 192.168.1.101 for another
Now its working
thanks
