help me pick anti virus.

I thought windows defender for windows 8.1 was okay but it can’t find a virus or something and I know there is something in my computer because my charms bar doesn’t come up sometimes when I do want to use it. So far my choices I see are kaspersky, norton, eset, mcafee, panda, avg, trend micro, bitdefender, and vipre.

A charms not appearing could be anything. A virus doesn’t give you random malfunctions but rather will give you specific unwanted function and a virus only disabling the charms bar is highly unlikely. Kapersky and bitdefender tend to be the highest rated but are rather heavy if you have performance problems. If that is the case then you should use Eset, smart security or antivirus(the first if you want also a firewall and other security specific function. The latter if you want only the antivirus) and help the antivirus scan with Malwarebytes.
