Help Buying RAM.

August 8th, 2016

I have two 1GB Ram Sticks with 4-4-4-15 timings that are PC2-6400 already in my computer. I was wondering if these would work with the ram sticks I already have even though they have different timings. The ones I want to purchase:

The Ram Sticks I currently have on:

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Answer #1
I don’t think the timing matters as long as the RAM stick’s compatible with your motherboard.
EDIT – Last time I bought RAM sticks, all the seller asked for was ” Is your motherboard compatible with DDR2 or DDR1 RAM sticks?”
So yeah, they’ll work.

Arite thank you.
Answer #3
Its not recomended to mix different types of ram, i would recomend trying to match the same RAM. Mixing these two however should work but might not be stable as they have different timings, unless you change them manually yourself. Hope that helps.

What do you mean as stable as?
Answer #5
He’s saying there might be a timing problem between the 2 sticks but, there is a way to change the new sticks timing manually to match your old sticks timing to solve the timing problem which will make them work in harmony. ;D
Answer #6
the “new” ones also have a lower voltage spec (1.8v vs 1.9-2.2v) so you would have to run the old ones @ that spec or overclock the new ones
think the reason for the higher voltage is to make them stable @ lower timings so your probably going to need to set the timings (higher) & voltage (lower) manually for stability you might be better off getting 2 2gb sticks and replace the old mem
and I have never run 4 sticks but have heard the that can cause a performance hit
your better of with less sticks (2) of higher capacity
Answer #7
For least problems I would just buy a 2×2 kit.
Answer #8
Better go for G.Skill Ram… I am having G.Skilll
