HDMI sound problem

I recently got an HDMI cable from a friend, today I plugged it into my lcd tv and got a picture but no sound. I went into control panel to see if the audio was set to hdmi output and it was. Anyone know how to fix this?

What do you mean by that? its a laptop and the audio on it works well.

The HDMI on the laptop is probably video only.

what laptop do you have
it’s specs say it’s capable of audio thro HDMI ?

My laptop is an ASUS N80Vc series. Tried googling it and it seems that it can play sound through hdmi, though this is the first cable I’ve tried. Must just be the cable then.

might be, only way to tell is try another cable
but I think HDMI cables are all audio capable you check both audio & video control panels for HDMI or digital audio settings

Try right clicking on your speaker icon in your taskbar and change the playback device to your TV. Remember to change it back after.
