HD Rip question

Are there HD rips that aren't mkv files?
sure there are, my HDTV rips & 1080p re-encodes are .MP4 and PS3/XBOX 360 compatible.
I'm looking for HD movies that I can play on my DIVX player without having to convert them.
does your divx player support HD resolutions? your probably better off with a HTPC because most high def content is h.264 and mkv.
