Hard Drive Questionq

July 23rd, 2013

I just bought a 1TB hard drive. Was wondering if I put a movie on there would I be able to hook the hard drive to my tv or PS3 to play the movie. I have a Vizio tv which does have a USB slot. I have tried to put it on my PS3 but can’t seem to find where it would be for me to play it.
Answer #1
all depends on the tv if it is set up to take the format the movie is in i can use mine like you are trying to but it wont play MKV files so i have to convert hem to AVI before i can watch them. best way is to go to the maker of the tv’s home page and read up on the model you have got.
Answer #2
I have a VIZIO E321VL.

So I did find out some more information about possibly having to convert it to FAT32. But I do have one question. If I did convert to FAT32 would I be able to use all 1TB that I have?
Answer #5
Why would you need to convert to FAT32????????? Leave it as NTFS then you wont have to loose any of the size unless you are running windows 95?
where did you find that you would have to convert to FAT32 to be able to use the full terabyte hard drive??????
send me the link if you dont mind ill check it out
but honestly dont think you will need to convert at all.
Answer #6
I read you would need to convert to FAT32 to play videos on my PS3. It’s not something I want to do. I want to play movies on my PS3 or my TV. Thanks for the help ausipeet.
Answer #7
TV”S use fat32 file system most current TV’s cant see large drives ( mine see’s only 8gb and wont see my 16 or 32gb sticks ) , i get around this by using my TV as a monitor ( via hdmi on a hd6990 ) , our tv has not had an aerial plugged into it since i found WBB ( 13th / nov / 2009 )
if the tv’s got usb its probably got pc inputs – its good to utilize them
i dont know about ps3
Answer #8
I don’t have any problem plugging my computer up to my tv. Just doing it with the hard drive would be easier but if thats what I have to do so be it.
Answer #9
You don’t have to make the whole HDD FAT32, You could just create a small FAT32 partition.
Do note that the FAT32 file system has a 4GB max file size limit. In my opinion, You’d be best
just buying an HD Media Player, That’s what everyone else do these days.
Answer #10
dude, just keep the HDD in your pc as NTFS and stream the movies from the pc to PS3. its so much easier then pissing about copying films over to it.
if you get a video in .MKV just use MKV2VOB.
