PS2 Hard Drive Mod Help

January 28th, 2020

Right basically I’ve spent the best part of today searching about trying to find a tutorial that makes sense to me with no luck, I’ve softmodded a wii in the past so I’m not exactly a total idiot, i think..
I’ve dug out my old phat ps2 (model no. scph-30003 r) and would like to simply mod it in some way to be able to get some games and play them on it. I have the network adaptor and i also have an ide hard drive which fits perfectly, so when i came across the hdd method i thought that’d be perfect because i already have all the parts, only I’m not sure if i totally get it..
Now the way I understand it is…
I have to put the games on the hd and then run a disc in the ps2 which reads the hd and allows you to boot from it? Does anyone know of a simple enough to follow tutorial for this method? or is there a better method out there I could use? The laser is pretty temperamental from what i can remember so I’d prefer to not have to keep using discs, is there a way of getting the boot program on to a ps memory card?
