Hard drive issues please help
September 27th, 2013
i am having an issue with one of my laptops, i have a acer aspire core i3 laptop that i had some issue’s with that i needed to replace the hard drive in,so i went to my work and pulled out a hard drive from one of the ex demo computers but the thing is it was out of a HP
So when i try booting it just goes blue screen of death or takes me to the HP help section with restoring hard drive to an earlier date but as i said im using a acer laptop not a HP so none of these options work, even trying to run in dos mode and format the hard drive cant be done either
so im stuck in a rut and wanna no if anyone has a solution for me??
all im wanting to do is completely format the hard drive and reinstall a fresh copy of windows onto it
You will have to find a bootable copy of Windows and boot off the DVD drive. This will allow you to perform a fresh install, what’s happening now is, it’s trying to boot off the old copy of Windows that was in the HP HDD.
yeah i downloaded a bootable copy of win 7 from this site but its not working
Not working in what way exactly?
Did you set your DVD drive as the primary (1st) boot device in BIOS?
Also,After you extracted,Did you burn the ISO as-is (data) or as image? This is very important,You have to burn it as an image and not data!
Using imgburn is best for this task,Go with the “write image file to disc” option.
