Will that be alright for mw3 (maybe skyrim) type games? Not in highest settings but with decent graphics? The only thing I was going to change from stock would be IC Diamond thermal compund instead of stock. Thoughts?

For a grand I would expect a bit more, and I did get more by getting only I-5 proco (more than enough), more RAM and a GTX 560M. It all comes out around the same price with apparently better performances. I run all recent games almost full ultra (just a few tweaks here and there)

if its just gaming you want, go for alienware, otherwise dell XPS is a good choice
Answer #4
ASUS ROG for good gaming laptops.
The extras stuff is overpriced. I mean, $15 for AS5??? $85 for ram that is 267mhz faster??? Please.
Answer #5
Alienware, but in my opinion i think it’s overpriced…But it’s your choice!
Answer #6
Get a Razer Blade
Answer #7
I just chose that one cause I’m knda on a budget. $1100 is probably the most I can spend. I also don’t want to get the m11x just because of the small screen (want 15.6 or bigger)

If you have any issues with what you get you can easily get a replacement. ~$1000 wont get you very far.

$1100 won’t get you a great gaming laptop (it will a desktop).. that was my budget, too.
The m11x’s screen really isn’t that small, despite how it sounds. The one you selected has the same resolution as an m11x. And if size really matters (lol) just use hdmi out to a tv/monitor or check out the m14x.
For the price, Alienware isn’t all that bad.
I have the m11x r2 (current is r3) and it suffices for what I do (even runs GTA IV EFLC! on low.. ). The r3 has a better gpu than the r2, but try to get the i5.

Alienware M14X user here. So far no complains
Runs BF3, MW3, Skyrim, LA Noire, Crysis 2, Fear 3, Stacraft 2 in High/ultra settings (sure with some personal tweaks I made)
I spent $1,100 with tax included.
