Gaming Case, Best VPN Router, and PSU’s

January 22nd, 2020

So I plan on splurging on a new case, power supply, and router. Here’s the router if you guys have any comments on it.

I chose it because of the 1.4GHz CPU. I was told the better the CPU of the router the more VPN bandwidth it can handle. (I’ve noticed a severe drop in speeds when PIA is set up on my N66U router.) Any comments on my choice would be nice.
As for the case. I fell in love with these two cases.

Pros and reasons I want them: Fan hub included; 4 USB’s in the front; front & top facing fans included WITH dust filters!, and can both fit my H100i water cooler.
Cons: They’re too freaking big!! My computer desk can only accommodate 20 inches in height.
So if you guys have any Mid-Tower cases that have the pros outlined above I will love you forever.
Now..as for PSU’s. This is the one I have my mind set on.

Seems pretty awesome for the price. Any comments and thoughts on this as well?

All good top of the range stuff…Can’t go wrong there
If you can’t find a shorter case that will fit everything then maybe you need to put case beside desk or make a cut out to fit?
Answer #3
They are all great choice. Cant say for the cases.
I would tell you to pick a mid size case. I been through plenty of full tower and now I am resting with a mid case. Man it made a big difference. Planning to do a mini ITX case soon If you want lots of usb. Spend a few buck and get a usb hub. There are plenty of nice 3.0 usb hub for under 20 buck. Spend about 40 buck and you can get 9 3.0 usb hub and it come with a power supply

@, I would but there’s no room. My options are to get a new desk or find a smaller case. Which sucks cause no mid-tower fits my case needs like the two above.
@ Could you explain what you mean by “man it made a big difference”?

The damn thing is extremely heavy after putting all my parts in there. I have tons of fans and radiator…. watercooling stuff beside the basic pc parts. So its really heavy to move around. Mine does not station in one sport until it die It takes up A LOTS of space. I came from the Haf 932 and the Obsidian. Gets all the room for you to have tons of radiator and component. But due to those reason. I switched to a mid case. I did research since I am a custom watercooler guy. My mid tower fit my 240 and 360 rad Hold 4x 780s. Basically does the same thing a full tower can do but less bulk and not as heavy.
Like I said earlier. Planning to do a mini ITX case since its very small and does not weight much at all. I know I can fit a 240 and could squeeze a 120 rad It really depends on personal reference really and buy what you feel right for you and of course for your surrounding.

The parts you’ve selected look pretty solid and there probably isn’t a wrong choice for either of the cases
I would choose the phanteks one, mostly because it isn’t as flashy as the NZXT case and comes with a much longer warranty Maybe put it on top of your desk? You could also look at mATX cases

this looks like my favorite kind of topic.
if you are look for full tower
http://www.corsair.com/en/graphite-series-760t-full-tower-windowed-case
http://www.coolermaster.com/case/full-tower/haf-x/
those 2 are currently best cases in affordable range for psu http://www.corsair.com/en/power-supply-units/ax-series
this is the best currently available , pick one according to your budget , they may not have best price/performance ratio , but best quality.
for router i dont have deep level of knowledge as i have on other hardware so it is better some others recommend it.
Planning to do a mini ITX case since its very small and does not weight much at all
i thought same so when i saw a build on a site , it was very powerful and also it was like you can grab it and take it with you to everywhere with you, but on the other hand spending tons of moneys on that small thing worries me
also you should be punched right into your face , u know that ? u almost written every single topic in the topic yet again didnt respond my “how are you” pm. i wouldnt be surprised if i see you posting on graveyard topics yet not answering pms.

Hey thanks for all the input guys. Decided to just get a new desk and grab the Enthoo case while I’m at it. I think I’m going to hold off on the router for now. I can’t find any custom firmware for it, so it’d be a waste to buy it now. I really wanted to use PIA on it. :[
@ Not enough room on top. My modem, router, and one external HDD are occupying that space atm.
@, holy crap man, what’s the value of your rig? It has to be thousands from the look of it..
@ Those are a bit too pricey for the performance. Thanks.
I have another question for you guys, I have a mATX motherboard with no SLI, and want a ATX one that does support it. I have a i5-3570K @3.4Ghz. Should I go ahead and and get a newer MB and CPU? Or should I go the cheaper route and just get a SLI-ready MB that supports my current CPU? Keep in mind if I go with the latter option, I don’t want to upgrade the CPU and MB for at least 2 to 3 years. Is the performance I’ll get from Haswell refreshed worth a new MB & CPU? Or can I squeeze another two to three years out of my current CPU without missing out on any cool features/gaming performance?
System Specs as of right now:
Windows: 8.1 64-bit
Memory (RAM): 8157 MB
CPU Info: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
CPU Speed: 3394.1 MHz
Sound Card: Speakers (High Definition Audio
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Screen Resolution: 1920 X 1080 – 32 bit
Hard Disks: C: 419.2GB | D: 1863.0GB | E: 1863.0GB Motherboard: Asrock H61M-HVS
Edit: On second thought, maybe I should make this it’s own topic to attract more folks.
