[Fixed]Windows 8 long boot

August 7th, 2016

I’ve been experiencing problem with windows 8, before my computer will boot fast, it usually takes 10secs to start it up. But now it takes too long for it to boot, the screen will stay black for about 2-3mins then proceed with the logon screen. I don’t know what is causing this problem. I already enabled fast boot and hibernate.
Answer #1
check the msconfig dialogue for services/processes or apps which try to run in startup…maybe they are causing problem

Thanks for answering, I already tried to check msconfig and look for services are unwanted during start up. I just decided to disable most of the services, but still the problem is here
Answer #3
Do you mean that you have to wait a long time after you switch on your PC until the Windows boot logo comes up?
Or is the time delay after this?

The black screen is appearing before the windows logo with the circular cursor. Black screen usually takes 2-3mins which is not happening before. Now, i tried to clean format the laptop and still not having it fix. Im totally out of idea what is happening
Answer #5
Try doing a system restore to the time when it was booting fast. Edit: Even after clean format, still slow? Do you have any external media devices connected?

That’s possible, it does sound like it is having a problem connecting to the hard drive maybe.
Check that HDD has 1st priority in boot order in bios.
Answer #7
Yes, even after clean format. I dont have any external devices installed or plugin. Also the hdd is set to boot priority as first.
Answer #8
I had the same problem, Go into BIOS Settings and *Disable Legacy USB* and see if that works it worked for me

Answer #11
Is your processor being throttled ? run cpuz and post the rusults
Answer #12
Okay I will try to run cpuz. Edit: I already downloaded cpuz, it only shows the laptop specs
Answer #13
The cpu frequency… What is it showing up as in cpuz?
Answer #14
Okay, here is a detailed info:
Specification: Intel core i3 3120m @2.50GHz
Cpu-z result
Core speed:1197.40 MHz
Bus speed: 99.77 MHz
Answer #15
Clearly, The CPU frequency isn’t as it should be, But that’s not necessarily a bad thing!
Laptops often use different power-saving techniques to maintain battery power.
I suggest you monitor your CPU frequency in real-time with this app:
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/tmonitor.html
See if it goes upwards when you run a heavy duty app or play an HD movie.
Also, Better check your HDD with the following app:

Thanks for answering. I’m only having problem with the boot process. My laptop performance in games is not even affected or slow. Also i tried to play HD movie and everything seems to be alright
EDIT: I already installed Hard disk senti. And this what it is showing:
The drive tried to examine and reallocate data sector(s) 68 times. The examined data area is perfect.
There are 88 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk.
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.
It is recommended to backup often to prevent data loss.

Also when i open my computer, drive c: and d: has yellow exclamation point
Answer #17
Your HDD is the problem, Get a new one!
Or send your laptop for repairs if it’s still under warranty.

I just got this laptop last month. The HDD is not the problem, I think. The problem is now fixed, this is what i did. Before installing windows 8, I deleted all the partition of the hard drive. Then created a new partition and format it. Then, I proceed with the installation process. Now, my laptop is back to normal. I hope this can help others who will encounter this problem.
Thanks for all the answers. I really appreciated it.

So? You think you can’t get a defective computer part just because it’s new?
The HDD is not the problem
It certainly IS!
It’s not normal for an HDD to have bad sectors. It’s an indication that it’s pending failure!
Bad sectors are the result of a faulty read/write head scratching the HDD’s magnetic platters.
So it’s a physical problem that cannot be repaired! A large scale data corruption or complete failure (In the form of a head crash, clicking) may eventually occur! The problem is now fixed
Not for long!
It could still happen again (It’s not unusual for an HDD with bad sectors to be slower than usual sometimes) and even if this issue will not reoccur, It will not change the fact that your HDD is on it’s way out! If you don’t wanna take my word for it that’s fine, But don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Ok, thanks for the advise. I will observe my hdd if it will show some errors again, then i will return this because i still have the warranty.
