File Extensions

I was using a VM someone made and they had Windows 7 on it. They had some setting enabled or something installed that’d show when you clicked something
File-Name.Extensions
allowing you to change it as well as clearly displaying what this is does anyone know how to do this?

I think what you are after is an explorer setting in all versions of windows. I’m not using Win 7 ATM so cannot say 100% where it is but it should be in folder options. In XP you can find it on the Tools menu but it might not be there in win 7 so look in the control panel.
It’s usual a setting called “Hide extensions for known file types”
