DVD drive not recognising Cd’s

Any help appreciated
unplug ur DVD reader.. restart ur computer and plug it again..
see if it works..

Tried that.No change. When i plugged into 2 different laptops it said drivers installed ,ready to use but will only recognise DVDS not CD’S.
PS I Have tried bought Cd’s , installation discs and blanks from verbatim Sony and woollies.

could be dirty lazer diode but more like faulty one (dvd lazer is different to cd one) last resort try to get and install the drives latest firmware or bust the piggy bank and get a new one

I too have the same problem. I thought that my DVD must be malfunctioned but when i plug it in my other PC it worked. When i plug in the other DVD working fine it also didn’t work. I then tried re-installing my OS and then it worked fine.
