Plz help..
its happening for a week.. i searched evrywhere n tried most of the solutions given.. nothing helped..

I have win7 HP
DVD writer – HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT31N
Might be a bad burner, or possible bad media. Try different media, see if that works, if not, you can pick up a DVD Burner for under $20 bucks.
I use UltraISO for all my DVD and ISO burning, never had any issues.
Also, make sure you “Verify” the burn process. And, I recommend burning 1 speed below max. Cheap media bugs out quite often burning at max speed, as well as cheap burners.
thx for the reply mate!! i’ll try ultraiso..
Btw..
i found error in log file..
i don have much knowledge abt this..
If anyone can undertand wt the error is..
here’s my log file..
when i tried to write by imgburn..

I/O error, sounds like cheap media.
Try lowering your burn speed as suggested.
i tried still same..
lowered speed given verify..
it failed..
i think so many ppl have same issue with this drive GT31N..
but no one gave a perfect solution for it..
Clean the disc right before you insert it into the drive. I have found it to help when you are using cheap discs. Also burn at a slow speed. Make sure the disc isn’t scratched badly.

If its not the media, its the drive, grab another one.

I assume the disk are brand new, what is the point of that? lmao
No guys its not cheap dvds.. the problem’s not with dvd..
i replaced dvd writer before a month.. so maybe with tat..
or some software error i guess..
i changed burn settings to incremental type in imgburn n tried..
it successfully burned n data’s there but soon.. same prob occurs.. this time..
wtever setting i change same prob..
failed to write data.. or burned successfully but no data..
i just wasted 13 dvds today..
i want to take backup my HDD full.. i’ll get ext hard disk next week but until tat i cant download anythin because of this problem..
So help me..

I don’t know what to tell you. The I/O error is either caused by a bad burner or bad media.
Maybe someone else will have something to add, but I don’t know what else there is to say.
Sorry =(
thx a lot isyrup6 n SmAsHeDr..
i’ll wait for other solutions..
i hope it should be a minor problem..
Just checked through your log file and see the disc ID is “MBI 01RG40”
This media type looks like it can have mixed results
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?dvdmediadvdridsearch=MBI%2001RG40..%20
Searching google for “MBI 01RG40” also brings back mixed results
If possible try a different brand of discs cause you could have a bad batch of discs
To find the disc ID with Imgburn, load it up and choose discovery then put your DVD in the drive. Now on the right look for where it says “Manufacturer ID” this is the code you want to use when searching these sites to help find the quality of your discs
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia
http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm
DVDInfoPro will tell you the exact manufacturers details etc
In your case they appear to be Verbatim, which are crap.
Go for Taiyo Yuden.
Clean the lens on your dvd burner using a dvd cleaning disc, (I do this after about 20 burns). Check all your data cables are attached properly (replace if you have spares). It could also be the burner itself – have you tried looking for updated firmware ?
n the disc become unreadable..
you try more than one PC ?
these all full disc burns (4.3gb), or the same thing happen on partial disc burns (say 2gb)
you try building and “image” and burning that to a disc ?
from log filelog file replied: W 17:23:25 Duplex Secure's SPTD driver can have a detrimental effect on drive performance.
Q: How can I disable SPTD on my computer to check if it causes problems?
A: If your system has some problems with SPTD installation you can do as follows:
If your system is already running then go to step 2 directly. Otherwise start from step 1.
Step 1. Boot in safe mode and press ESC key when you see on bottom line of display: "Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys". This will abort loading of SPTD layer.
Step 2. Find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Services\sptd" registry key in REGEDIT and set DWORD Start value to 4 (i.e. disabled).
Step 3. Reboot again in normal mode and check if your issue is solved.
To reenable SPTD restore the DWORD Start value back to '0' and reboot your computer.
