Disable IDM?

Hi, is there a way to disable IDM,as i only want to use it for my downloads, but atm its used everytime i download

tools, options, monitor, and uncheck everything, not 100% sure on the direction but i know its along those lines

i went to downloads/options/general and unticked the Firefox option (my browser) sorted!
