Converting/Burning Blu-Ray DVD’s

August 1st, 2016

Hello !
I am about to purchase:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817501029
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827129051&cm_re=blu-ray_burner-_-27-129-051-_-Product

(Please correct me if I should be purchasing something else!)
I plan to install this Blu-Ray burner into my computer (running vistax64) and burn 1080p movies onto the blank BR dvd’s i am purchasing (above^^). I was wondering what everybody recommends as a good blu-ray converting and burning program. (i assume i will have to convert most of the movies so that they may be burned and playable on my blu-ray dvd player?) Correct?
Should i list the model of my blu-ray dvd player?
Thanks guys!

What you’ll try to burn: BluRay-Rips (reencoded movies packed in .mkv) or complete backups of BluRay’s?
If you’re going to plan backing up BluRay’s you’ll need to reencode them to squeeze their size, cause alot of BluRay’s take up to 40GB.
There is a application for reencoding BluRay’s –> BluRay Rebuilder – just like DVD Rebuilder for reencoding DVD9 to DVD5.

But it’s still beta, some issues may occur.
Btw: there isn’t any “Blu-Ray DVD” –> Blu-Ray disc instead – it would just causing confusion

If you want to burn FULL EXACT COPY (ISO) of a movie, the disks you are able to buy won’t work for many movies… The most BD-R isos avaliable to download exceed 30gb, they are de DL BD-R disks… In this cases, you will need this:

But, you can also try to convert the .mkv files to .m2ts, i guess it will work as .avi to .vob works for converting rips to “normal DVD’s”
So, see the time and the money you will spent on buying all this stuff to convert and burn the disks… The best option is plug directly your PC to the TV trought HDMI cable… Just buy a 1TB HDD to store the movies and plug the pc to the tv, and watch all of them this way… Is way cheaper and faster…

So i already purchased the blu-ray burner and those bluray discs.
You’re saying that i will not be able to put most 1080p movies onto a 25gb blu-ray disc??? How can i tell how much space a blu-ray movie will need in order to be put on a blank blu-ray disc?

i use to use dvdfab to burn bd-rs but the problem i ran into was no bluray fits on a single layer…if your lucky do just a movie rip i use to rip blu rays with dvdfab and click “movie only” and it would fit in the 25gb…idk how people get them down to 7gb and under
Answer #6
use tsMuxer to make movies blu ray compatible and then burn them.
Depending on the size you can always split them if you want. however if you have downloaded blu ray rip ( a good one it size won’t exceed 20~25 GB unless its un-encoded)

There are a lot of 1080p thtat fits on a single layer disk, but there are many of them that requires up to 35GB… You could edit the isos as you do with DVD’s, so you can ripp-off foreign languages which you dont use… You can gain many Gb’s doing this…
But I have one more question… You will take the movies from where and in which format? You will download the full BD-R iso and edit / shrink it, so you want to have all the fancy menus of the original disks, or you are planning to download a 1080p mkv file and convert it?
Because if you will download the 1080p mkv and convert it to m2ts, i’m prety sure it will work fine on your player and you can set the size of the movie to fit on your disks… You could loose a little bit of quality, but is not thaat visible…

Well i just recently downloaded a few 1080p movies from bb.. So they do not have the regular dvd menu and stu.. They are all .avi or .mkv

Because if you will download the 1080p mkv and convert it to m2ts, i’m prety sure it will work fine on your player and you can set the size of the movie to fit on your disks… You could loose a little bit of quality, but is not thaat visible…

Can anybody confirm this? And why would i be loosing quality? Are you saying I would loose quality if i have to force the m2t’s to a certain size?
So if thats is the case, and i can do this. ^^^ Whats a good program for converting to / burning m2t’s

If you download the 1080p rips, you can make what said few posts above… Use tsMuxer to make movies blu ray compatible and then burn them with ImgBurn
So you have to read this:
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_mkv_to_avchd_for_ps3_and_blu-ray.cfm
You may also have a look at mkv2vob soft, does the job too.
And you may loose quality when converting the movie and setting a specific size for it, but the quality will still excellent.

Assuming you TV has HDMI input then use HDMI to HDMI cable if your vid card has HDMI out or otherwise a HDMI to DVI cable (or HDMI to HDMI cable with a HDMI to DVI converter dongle or visa versa)
