Sorry, I was running Win7 and I tried booting up one day and it loads the start up screen then crashes and re-boots. When I try the repair option it freezes and does nothing. I’m trying to reinstall Windoes and It let’s me select my language and things then I click install now. It gets to ‘starting setup..’ Then freezes so I don’t get a chance to format. And now I keep getting a black error screen that says ‘windows has encountered a problem communicatating with a device connected to your compter…..etc. Status – 0xc00000e9….’ And I have no extrernal devices plugged in.
Answer #3
get Hiren’s BootCD and use the hard drive tools to check the drive’s health
Answer #4
the dvd drive could be the device the error is referring to.
It may also be the hard drive. If edwoodweb’s recommendation does’nt work try making a win 7 bootable usb and see if it installs from there
Answer #5
If the above doesn’t work, and your hdd is OK, then delete the existing partition and format with an acronis disk director boot cd or similar, then try installing.
If you have any data you need to recover first, you can boot from a live linux cd, such as Ubuntu, and copy your data to another hdd or flash drive etc.
