Tell him to sort it himself lol!
Just boot into safe mode and try and an antivirus scan of some sort.
format and just do a clean reinstall of the os
Yeah format, if its ~ censored ~ up really badly then a format is so much easier then trying to fix & fix & fix some more.

haha I’ve seen soo many people format their machine and landed themselves in an even worse state then before!
But if you know what your doing and the guy doesn’t mind then doo it.
The Bluescreen of Death isn’t a virus. Turn off the auto reboot after system crash function and write down the error code. e.g. “0x0000007A” Google that code and you will probably learn what is causing that BSOD. Mostly it’s a RAM problem so try memtest86 first before you do something drastic like formatting.
when i tried to format my netbook i got hal.dll error. so i wudnt format if i was you.
you shud just get it repaired from a shop.
google reanimator…then run it….then check the registry using that app. U can find which file/process is not related to Windows OS..and kill then terminate it…

Moving.
BSOD is nearly always a RAM issue.
Remove one stick of RAM at a time, reboot repeat for second stick of RAM.
This is so much easier than formatting and can be done by unscrewing back panel, usually middle one then, release RAM stick by moving both holding clips outwards. (However make sure you are earthed when you do this in case you damage the stick.)
Also never ever put electronic components onto paper as paper holds a static charge and can ruin any electronic parts.
If the RAM is 800Mhz i don’t think memtest86 works.
However, if you run memtest86 then make sure to run for a few hours and not for just 10 mins or so.
How do i know this? Because i used to repair Sony laptops for a living.
The very last thing you should do is format your hdd.
Format it and install a fresh copy o f windows.

my BSOD’s are always driver less or not equal issues thanks man seems best idea upto now and those who keep saying format i cant format it its locked off
What do you mean locked off? Unless the bios is password protected so that you can’t change the boot order to cd, then its probably not protected.
download and use BlueScreenView v1.20 – View BSOD (blue screen) crash information
