Battery Icon disappeared

This happened back in January where my Battery Icon in the process line disappeared and I haven’t seen it since.
So when I unplug my battery supply from my laptop I have no idea when it’s going to shut down, which is a bit annoying.
Does anybody know how to get it back?

Control panel -> power options -> advanced -> always show icon on the taskbar

I’m using vista and can’t find the advanced settings that allow me to show the icon..
