Audio On PC

January 20th, 2020

Hey guys, so for my pc build I have NZXT Guardian Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Case 921RB-BL, with a ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AMD 970 & SB950 ATX DDR3 800 AMD – AM3+ Motherboard. like a week ago I start noticing that when I didn’t have any earphones plugged in to the front earphone port of the case it would show there was ‘sound’. but as soon as I plug in an earphone the earphone icon gets an ‘x’ on it meaning there is no sound. so I tried my motherboards audio and for some reason that doesn’t work either. so I unplugged the cable from the case to the motherboard and that still didn’t work. I reinstalled drivers from ASUS and still that didn’t work. not sure why both of them wouldn’t be working :/.

You mention ASUS, but then you say you have an ASRock mother board ?
Did you try drivers from ASRock ?
Assuming it uses a Realtek codec, then you could try drivers direct from them..

You may find some help from this forum about ASRock..

ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AMD 970 & SB950 ATX DDR3 800 AMD - AM3+ Motherboard
Thats an ASRock motherboard. Go to their website instead of Asus. That motherboard use an Realtek ALC892 Audio Codec so just like said
Also open up the Realtek HD Audio Manager and see if the earjack are turned off.
