5.1 speaker cables to a single input?
August 1st, 2013
i have a set of 5.1 speakers which has the standard 3 cables for sub, front and rear speakers but i recently bought a new motherboard which only has the out, line in and mic inputs. Is there a way to still be able to connect my 5.1’s to my computer?
Which Motherboard are you using?
Buy a sound card or go to digital speakers. You will be only to play left and right speakers without the other jack inputs. Could also invest in a receiver then plug your external 5.1’s and be set. Depends on what your willing to spend
Unusual not to have 5.1 sound.
Check your user manual…With my old board it was possible to use the mic and line out sockets for speakers by selecting it in the sound card’s control panel.
BigSenator replied: Hey,
the motherboard does not support 5.1 audio just stereo (like most laptops)

Solution:
1 buy a usb 5.1 audio card
2 buy a mixer
3 buy a stereo jack splitter
