42 inch tv

October 30th, 2013

i’m just about to buy a 42 inch TV but not sure what to look out for specs wise as i want it to work well with playing PC games and surfing the net… i currently have an ATI 6970 running in my rig however i’m considering getting 2 6990 in crossfire… i know most new tvs today work great for gaming with but i have had a couple of lcd panels connected to my 6970 and surfing the web and icons on the desktop have been a bit of a problem, where as i said before games look great… so anyone got any ideas… should it be a led tv or should i go for a 120hz lcd panel or is there something else i should be looking out for?? as much detail as possible would be greatly appreciated or if any one has links to a TV they know works 100 percent that would be just as handy, thanks!!!
ps i will be using the HDMI port to hook up the TV
oh an i forgot to ask does anyone know how to get games to load on a secondary monitor without have to change the primary everytime i go to load a game??

You seem to have a decent bit of cash to throw around if looking at xfire 6990 gpu’s
There are no 42″ tellys right now that make good monitors.
a 30″ screen for your games like the excellent Dell U3011 with a fast IPS panel will offer great viewing angles brilliant true colours and a huge resolution of 2560×1600.
This is going to look far better than any television on the market today.
If i was in your position i would be looking at a U3011 and perhaps a cheaper 42″ plasma TV to watch your movies and television on.

I use the smaller U2410 and it’s one of the best purchases i’ve ever made.
Well worth the high price tag.

I have a 40″ 6300 samsung (UN40C6300SFXZA) and it looks much better than my 24″ monitor
was a $1,300 list TV but I got it for $1,000
I have my PC connected to it via HDMI
use it mainly for movies & TV shows I get here, don’t game much any more, but what little I have on it looked great
@jock_juffalo, is the screen glossy or matte on the U2410

matte screen on the U2410.
@Ker91
LED is not even a screen type…. it’s a light and can be used on both tv’s and monitors.
it’s arguably worse as there are no white LED’s only light blue so it can give your whites a blue tint.
Some are obviously better than others.
