Tool to monitor internet status.

November 8th, 2013

Hi All. I want to monitor my internet connection. Sometimes im losing it during night and i cant stay awake to check it all time and also cant check it during daytimes as i’ll be off to work. I want to know if there is any tool or something by which i can keep it monitoring my internet connection and if i loose my connectivity it records everything.

Never used it, but I have Google.

routerstats or routerstatslite. Once setup for your router it monitors and optionally logs the connection every few seconds. It only checks the snr either up or down, it won’t do both unfortunately.
Alternatively your router might keep a log of disconnections and times, my speedtouch certainly does.
The program on the following site can be useful if it works with your router. It can show the router log if you query the router with a command.

Why does it matter if your connection drops when you wouldn’t be using it anyway…?

Yes You are right. But when ever im losing it while im working from home then they say that it was the first time it happened . So just wanted to keep all logs .

I have a server ping my router all the time, if my connection drops I get an e-mail.
It’s handy for my ISP to monitor to see if my local exchange is getting congested on their DSLAM.
It’s provided by someone at my ISP, and highly unlikely you can use it if outside the UK (f8lure)
