install a xp service pack2 no 1 ok bcz service pack1 is not so good 4 games
Most of new games need a gud graphics card to play, so check ur graphics card first then come to softwere updating
update it to sp3 from MS site.. and update ur directx to 9.c april edition..
What are you system specs?
I would just update, go to service pack 2 or 3 (3 is better) and install all your latest drivers and update your directX to 9.0.
Nearly all games run on XP so what are your specs? Check here if oyu can run any games? (make sure you’ve installed java)

Well..I’m a noob..But you won’t catch me using XP with SP1…It must be terrible..Update to the latest service pack…Microsoft..For free…
Sp3 isn’t better at all. It has a lot of compatibility issues with some of my games.
Use Sp2.

What ever gave you that idea?

Personal experience?
And other people’s experience with the same games.
I’ve heard nothing but complaints about other software failing to work after they installed Sp3. And I actually had the same issues. And it’s just a fact that a lot of software doesn’t “recognize” SP3 yet until they update their programs. The same goes with games.
Don’t let it stop you from installing, by all means go ahead if you really want it that badly. But in my opinion it’s hardly worth the trouble.
That’s you personal experience…
I never had a single problem with any game…You name it…XP never been better, secure and more stable…
