Unable to remove/install Java 6

July 25th, 2016

I was cleaning up my uncle’s laptop when I noticed that he had Java 6 update 11 and 13 in the Programs and Features list. I tried to uninstall Java 6 Update 11 but kept getting the following error:
“The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavilable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package ‘jre1.6.0_10-c-l.msi”
I cancelled that but went to uninstall Java 6 Update 13, which was “successful.” But now my uncle can’t open his E-trade Power Pro program. So I go through a process of calling tech support who told me to try to reinstall update 11 but only came up with the same error. Then he told me to do a system restore, which said it was unsuccessful and therefore didn’t restore the system. So I’m left with Java 6 Update 11 unable to be removed and preventing me from installing Update 13, which comes up with the same error. If I hit cancel, it’ll say that the older version of update 13 could not be removed. Can anybody help me please?
