Help with choosing new Graphics Card please..

I’ replacing a burnt out Graphics card for a freind and was after some suggestions please on a good card I could use.
She would like HDMI, does a bit of Gaming and would like to spend less than $150 Aus Dollars.
Here are PC details:
ASUS P5P43TD-PRO
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 CPU, 2.66 GHz
8 Gig Ram

Your sure about that? How did you conclude that it’s indeed the card and nothing else? Not trying to underestimate you,It’s just
that I don’t know anything about your level of computer knowledge and I just wanna verify it’s indeed the case to spare your friend
the headache (and waste of money) in case it isn’t.

Mind being a bit more specific? Which ones exactly? She might be able to settle for an ever cheaper card.
