how do i find out whether i have a dynamic or static ip?

I think its something like this:
Go to ipnow.org
copy ur IP to notepad
close ipnow.org
shut down your router
start it up again
go to ipnow.org again
Did any number in your ip adress change (compared to the one you have in notepad)? Dynamic ip adress. Did none change? Static ip adress!
At least i think thats how to do it ._.

if u shut down the router doesnt ur ip change even if static???
restart ur computer and then check ur ip.
