Gimme advice on buying a new TV.

April 4th, 2022

I’m most likely gonna get this LCD TV:

I was hoping people here could give me some advice.
It’s 200 hz. Now, will that be good for gaming on XBox 360?
I want
to hook my PC up to it so I can use it as another desktop and watch movies and stuff on it. Will it be good for that?
I also want to run a PS2 on it. Yep, not PS3, but PS2. There’s a few old games I wanna play. Will it be good for that?
I noticed I can get the LED bravia as well. Its almost the same price from this store I’m looking at and I was wondering if it might be a better choice. Its 100 hz not 200, and Sony have the non LED one priced as a lot more on their site.
any other thoughts are welcome.

i dont realy know lots about TV’s but i dont think it will effect Xbox 360 gaming as doesnt it only give out 60Hz max? however i may be completely wrong :p.
and with the PS2, i dont think it will be good for it as it will look all stretched out. it did with my tv anyway. (so i think all HDTV’s make the ps2 stretched out as it doesnt use a digital output).

Samsung > Sony, and most TVs have composite cable inputs for older hardware (DVD players, gaming consoles, etc.).

@prozac, doesnt it stretch out the image from the PS2 ?

No–it’ll just play it in a 4:3 aspect ratio with black bars on the sides rather than 16:9 full screen.

Ahh, auto full-screen

Yeah, I’ve heard lots of good things about the Samsung’s as well. But I think I’ll go with Sony. DOn’t think the Samsung’s were on special.
