Buying wireless router question
January 21st, 2020
I a adsl connection at home (my phone line is connected to a usb modem which is in turn connected to my pc via a usb cable).
I want to buy a wireless router as i have a laptop and i want both my pc and my laptop to have access to internet.
My friend told me to buy a d-link or linksys router where i can plug my phone line directly (as i don’t have cable internet)
He told me to buy a d-link 604.
But i found 2 d-link 604:
– D-Link DSL-G604T
– D-Link DI-604
So which one should i buy??
Any router will work. You can never plug the phone line into a router, you plug the ethernet cable into the router. I’ve never used dlink before, I’m a fan of linksys.
There are a combined router/modem…But it’s best to just use your existing modem and buy just a router…As some companies enable and configure their own modems…You just leave the phone cable connected to your modem and the output cable you connect to your router modem port…

Yeah but my output cable from my modem is a usb cable not an ethernet cable.
You sure…you looked in the back…most modems have Ethernet port…USB is real slow compared to Etherne …
Yeah i do have only 2 ports on my modem 1 for the phone line (in) then 1 for the usb cable (out). I have a zxdsl 852 modem. My connection is only 128K. Internet connection is really expensive + max for home users is 512K.
You can take a chance abd buy a router/modem and connect the phone direct to the modem port of the router/modem…Even if it doesn’t work you can still use it as a router…
So what do u recommend me to buy?? D-Link DSL-G604T or
D-Link DI-604
