[SOLVED]Is this a good deal for a computer !?!?
August 4th, 2013
I’m thinking something really good that I won’t have to upgrade in 2-3 years.
What do you guys think about this system for 1000$ ?!?!
This is one of the deals Dell has right now….this system comes with a 24″ monitor at the same price as the system without monitor.
http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dxps8300_f_3e&c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&model_id=xps-8300
Just hit the green “Review and Continue” button to see all the specs.
I’m gonna upgrade the memory(from 12Gb to 16Gb) and add 2xUSB3 port.
That will up the value to 1200$….+tx will be ~1400$.
What do you guys think ?!?!?
Can anyone here can recommend me something as good as this/better for the same/lower price ?!?!
My main priority is the speed(CPU and memory) not HDD, video card, etc….
I also can do without a monitor as I already have a 21″ Acer.
So, waiting on your ideas/suggestions.
Thanks.
Well their is definitly no need for a RAM upgrade from 12gb to 16gb thats for sure. You will not notice any diffrence in performance whatsoever.
Today, having 4gb of ram is more than sufficiant to let all your apps and games run smoothly. If you want to be equiped for the future then I would recommend getting 8gb. 12 or 16gb is absolutly unnecessary. Unless you use extraordinary programs offcource like 3D projects and such..
If you really want to boost your system then you should use an ssd drive instead of a regular one believe me your systel wil be fully booted in seconds because an SSD drive is wayy faster than one with a disk^^ But i noticed there isn’t one SSD drive to choose from on the list.
build one yourself. i7 with a HD6450 LOL.
where abouts u live ?
Build one yourself.
i7 sandy-bridge
ssd
usb 3.0
16gb ddr3
BTW what you using it for?
Seems like a decent deal. I agree that 12 GB is really unnecessary for like 90% of computer users. Anything above 8GB is just like wasted money on bragging rights, because it isn’t actually doing anything for you. An SSD is a great upgrade from a normal HD. I would get like a 64 or 128GB or so SSD for OS and programs and a 1 or 2 TB HD for storage.
Thanks a lot guys….I’m in Montreal, Canada.
I see all of you guys recommend me building my own system but…..NONE of you guys gives me an idea where I can do that.
I’m not too much of a computer savvy(see my 12Gb to 16Gb upgrade idea) so I’m gonna need all the help I can get !!!
So where do you guys suggest I go(links please) to build my own comp.
I’ll be using this comp for regular/usual/normal stuff(net, vids, games)…no big projects !!!!
You will find all the parts you need here:
http://www.newegg.com/
newegg.ca
for canada
Not that great for a $1000, and very unbalanced.
Got build one yourself, it’s much easier than you think. It also depends on what you’re using the computer for.
An i7 with a HD 6450? What a waste

Why do you guys say this ?!?
Anyone care to explain ?!?
A 6450 is a very low end graphics card and will not be able to play any new games smoothly. I would reccomend at least a 5770 or a gtx 260 if you prefer nvidia. You can pick up both these cards on ebay under £50
Aha, thanks a lot for the info.
I guess I have my answer….I’ll build one myself !!!
Thanks a lot guys for all the input.
/thread
im running all my games with 4gb and an i3 proccessor and it works great
high ram is just for big headed muppets to show off does you no favours as the games will only use what they require
