Disk 0 Invalid

August 7th, 2016

Hi, My friend decided to re-install Windows 7 in his laptop. The specs are listed below. After the first restart of the setup, Windows cannot detect the hard drive. We’ve checked the bios and the hard drive is listed there. Ran diskpart > list disk, but it the status of disk 0, is invalid. We’ve also googled for some information about the case but all we’ve found is that we can clean the whole disk but the D partition of the hard drive contains important files that must not be lost. All we can do is get into BIOS. Tried resetting the settings to default. No ide option just AHCI. Core i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00 GHz
500 GB HDD 8 GB RAM
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You could try using the Windows installation disk and running chkdsk to fix partitions’ errors. If the step doesn’t work then you could try repairing the partition table with Linux using softwares like TestDisk or gdisk. If neither chkdsk and fixing the partition table works, you could use forensic tools. There is a chance that the drive is damaged and the data will be most likely lost.

I’ll suggest to use a bootable file recovery software..Save your Data first..
Then if comes to the worst..You can just delete the partitions and recreate a new one..
Also it’s possible that the HD have some hardware problems..
