green squares on laptop screen?

i have alienware area51 m9750 …windows7 32bit ,intel core2 t7200 ,2ghz, 4gb ram,, vga graphics adapter. display .NVidia GeForce go7900…when i got up this morning the lights were on my laptop but acted like it was in sleep mode,so i moved mouse the screen stayed black..so i restarted pc and when it started when screen was black it had about 30 red squares on it,then black again,,so i started in safemode it came working but than i had small green squares over whole screen….i update drivers,run malwarebyites…didn’t help…..so i changed hard drives and now laptop works in normal mode but i still have red squares screen when it first starts up,and green squares everywhere after it loads up.,,,any ideas whats wrong with laptop?

I had red squares on a monitor one time that were dead pixels

That sounds like a broken screen.

yes it does, but why is one hard drive working in normal mode and one is not?the one that does not work in normal mode will work in safe mode and I have been using this hard drive for a year.

Could be also corrupted videocard drivers. You should remove them all and reinstall.

I don’t think a Laptop Graphics card can be removed…
It could be either..Faulty graphics card or screen..

You should try to change video drivers. If the problem persists then it should be a faulty video card…

The video “card” may work OK in safe mode because it is only using basic VGA graphics.
But bad in normal mode when it works at high res..
Try an external monitor, if the problem persists then the graphics chip or it’s interface are faulty.
This would need professional attention to repair the fault or replace the motherboard.
If it works all OK with the external monitor, then chances are, it is a faulty screen.
Check the ribbon cable to the screen looks OK and is in tight.

yall know I said i update drivers….well I went back and rolled the NVidia GeForce go7900 driver back and that fix it no more squares,works great in normal mode ..I hope its fixed..THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING TIME TO HELP..

well it worked for a couple weeks then done it again. so I took video card out and put it back now its working fine….screen is clear.hope it stays that way.
