XP specific disc help

July 25th, 2016

I’m trying to install xp onto a blank harddrive. I have a valid key, i just need a disc that lets me install the edition I have. I tried getting one for my exact edition, but it’s not working, so is there a disc that installs the correct version of xp without me having to fuss around with getting a specific disc for the specific code that i have? If so provide link please, thank you.

That that is the iso file that i have downloaded and when i get to the key page it says that my keys is not valid… the keys are are the side of the computer and are genuine… the only thing that it could be is that the version is not correct. I need a disk that is not version specific… I read somewhere that it is possible to edit the iso file that it installs the version specific to the key you enter… help

The problem you have is that you are trying to install Windows XP Pro but using an XP Home authorisation key. I’ve had the same trouble a few times, and have actually found it easier to install XP pro and use one of the many cracks to ‘authenticate’ it. The above link seems perfect, with an excellent guide on validating that version.

No it is A legit, windows xp professional key. It has the authentic sticker and watermark to prove its validity. It does say OEM on the sticker as as well and maybe that has something to do with the issue that im facing.

You’ve practically answered your own question. It’s an OEM Windows XP Professional which is different to Retail Windows XP Professional and they use different keys. OEM keys are always different.
Was your Windows XP a pre-installed version which came with no Windows CD? Did it have a backup partition from where it could be restored? Did you not receive a CD?
Have you looked on your PC makers website to see if they have any CD’s available? I don’t know where OEM windows versions are available as they can be specific to certain PC manufacturers. So I think that is the best place to start. Maybe contact your PC manufacturer and ask them.

It’s a custom built pc, its older it has a pentium 4 but the os was preinstalled by the computer company… The company was local and no longer exists so they don’t have a site for an image… also the computer was a business computer so the the business took the hard drive out and gave it to me…. it has the key sticker on the side of it… Is there anything that I can do?
