Don’t waste your time. Linux or xp, take your pick. Atom cpu is not cut out for vista/windows 7
It’s designed to use as little power as possible and keep things small and portable.
It’s a work of art but it’s not powerfull enough to be a proper laptop or desktop.

Just do a search in google, for netbooks and windows 7. There are plenty of reviews on people who have tested it.

You could give Tiny 7 a try. On default install uses 184MB of RAM, but for this netbooks its always better to have XP. You are not missing anything by having XP. All games and applications run in Windows XP and W7. You can get Tiny 7 from link in my siggy

If I get the tiny 7 can I still do system updates normally etc…? Is the good looking stuff removed like the toolbars, etc… themes etc.. do they all still look the same as normal windows 7?

If your gfx card supports pixel shadders 2.0 or above you can have transparncy in my screenshot it dont have it cuz i did it in virtual machine to test it. Yeah the OS looks like full version, just extra stuff is removed so its not as heavy. It is assumed you will be installing your own drivers not depending on generic ones. I have not used Windows update on it. There could be issues with that for if certain update depend on files that got removed. There is a list of things removed on my post. I personally dont update my cracked OSes, its a hassle to recrack them later.

You wont be able to keep updated as normal no. It’s a waste of time, you are going to lose functionality.

Well if I decided to which official windows 7 version to go for? Starter or just go for Ultimate?

Starter is crappy dont go for it, it has a ton of things disabled that cant be activated. I dont think you are listening to us. Windows 7 is heavy OS for your laptops. If you go for full version of Ultimate you need to have 2GBs of RAM and dual core CPU else it will be too slow. Unless you prefer slow performance? Im telling you try Tiny7 first, if that seems too heavy then go back to XP.
Difference between W7 versions. Starter version not here but its very limited version, cant even change your wallpaper in it so go figure.

I would say if you really wants to run Windows 7 on your notebooks then pick up Windows 7 Starter or Windows 7 Home Edition. Or if it doesn’t fit your choice then pick up Windows Vista Basic or Windows Vista Home Premium. Both OS Windows Vista/Windows 7 will run on these notebooks..
You’r wasting time on researching it.. just do it.. and give us a alert if it didn’t worked out or it did worked out.
Answer #11
Install windows 7 x64 Ultimate. You have been told more than once the situation but it seems you need to find out for yourself how bad a idea this is.
Windows 7 will run slower than xp, it’s designed to work with more modern and powerfull hardware.

My friend is going to run Windows 7 Starter pack on his EEE pc. Windows 7 Starter doesn’t have as much features and that’s one reason why it’s not a resource hog.
