Thanks to everyone, solved can now be locked. Which is the best applications on here to download to wipe hard drive.

A simple format can wipe the HD..

almost all applications uses same algorithm so it is not necessarily to download an advanced one. a simple free version of ccleaner have that option , use simple overwrite(1 pass) , it would be enough. if your drive is not very big in size , you can also use advanced overwrite (3 pass). it is arguable if more passes give any benefit , many say 1 pass is more than enough. almost all software uses that pass method 1-3-7-35 so any would do the job.
edit : if you mean format like mentioned , format does not delete files in harddrive just remove the pathway to them so you can overwrite new files. if you want to clean your harddrive for privacy , you need a drive wiper which overwrites every cluster of harddrive.

The built-in utilities of the OS will be sufficient in most cases. If you want the highest grade of deletion you can use DBAN(as already mentioned).

Other utilities, you don’t need to go mad, at work we regularly do forensic recovery/ordinary recovery, and 3 passes is enough to prevent recovery with most apps.
The best way if you don’t need the drive is a hammer, lol

I’ve always preferred a drill , you could always fill the drive with crap ie. overwrite everything on it, then DBan, then still worry and keep it

ah , since you are familiar with those , can you tell us that can 7 or 35 pass make something almost totally impossible to recover ?

Just zero out the files using dos commands will render files useless, if you know the trick.
