Which Intel Core i5 processor?

August 4th, 2016

Which Intel Core i5 processor do you recommend for overclocking for 200 EUR? I buy ASUS motherboard.
INTEL Core i5 3570 3.4GHz 6MB BOX LGA1155? Good or not?

Answer #1
For overclocking you need a “k” processor which has an unlocked multiplier, so go for the i5 3570k.
A suitable motherboard should have a Z77 chipset which will support the O/C and other features.
Answer #2
Don’t know about pricing, however there are newer options available, if you haven’t bought the board yet.
Lots of Z87 boards out there paired with Intel 4000 series.
Answer #3
Bear in mind that the Haswell (series 4) run hotter than the Ivy Bridge(series 3) processors, so if you are going to finish with an overclock 10% lower with the Haswell due to extra heat, you would be better off saving money and going with the Ivy Bridge.
Answer #4
wait on the 4gen Intel’s they are all unlocked mate it’s only a few months away. plus the stander is 4ghz

They are already out, as mentioned above.
Answer #6
Only the K series Haswells are unlocked as with the Ivy Bridge.
Here is a review….Not particularly impressive or worth extra dough.
