5 TB internal HD and keep the 1 TB as external HD..
Is for a laptop @ lion, don’t think it have 5 TB’s for laptops? Well internal hard drives that is.
I seen 4 TB..But using as external on usb will be slow even on usb 3.0..Unless if you connecting it trough Esata..
Was thinking something like this http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-STEB5000100/dp/B00TKFEEBW/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1464630691&sr=1-1&keywords=5tb+external+hard+drive
or http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Canvio-Desktop-External-HDWC250XK3J1/dp/B00J5EZNO0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464630838&sr=8-1&keywords=5TB+toshiba+external+hard+drive
These will be slow?
Given you all ready have a 1GB external hard drive you would know the rough speed they transfer at. (It will be the same as that for the new one) It should suit your needs, but others would say its too slow to use……….. Build a PC
yea, just get an 5TB external and dl to this drive
Yeah lets take a device with magnetic platters spinning around at 7200RPM and house it outside the protection of a PC case in a dinky little plastic enclosure that will get knocked over when the cable is tugged.
That’s a great idea, Not.
If you can afford it get 4X 5TB and a 578230-B21 for 50$ online This will let you setup a 10TB RAID6 array that you can expand easily up to 8 drives.
What’s next is you buy another hard drive.
Building one is not a bad idea, never built one though Easier thing to do, is buy and external.
