What does “Num” field mean in Flashget?

February 7th, 2020

I saw that when for example I have 8/1 Num my download is at maximum speed. When it is 1/1 my download is going at half speed. This is really annoying. And no I’m not going to change Flashget. I just need advice and help what Num means?

Number? Part 8 out of 1 set?

Thanks mate, but it appears that my downloading speed depends on that… When it is 1/1 it is going around 200 kB/s. When it is 2/1, 4/1 8/1 it is full speed ( 440 kB/s ). Do you have any idea how I can increase this value?

You should be able to set the number of connections for each file somewhere in the options menu – I’m not a Flashget user so forigive me.
However be careful, too many connections may cause downloading errors. Default is 4 connections per file – and downloading 4 files at a time is ok. However I wouldn’t suggest more than that.

Those are the number of download streams, sections or parts. Download managers usually split the file into different sections and download them concurrently, if the site or the server supports it.
This technique speed up the download process as various parts and downloaded simultaneously and are joined together when all parts are done downloading.
Servers and sites that do not support download-resume capabilities do not usually have concurrent download or parallel download support.

Thanks! I’m trying to find that in Flashget… But if someone have any idea about this how to increase that connections especially for RapidShare it would be great!
