Weird Sound problems in Windows XP
August 4th, 2016
I dunno what might have caused this, because it was working fine before my 4-day long holiday. O_O
This is a problem as I can’t perform my best in Counter-Strike clan matches, as I sometimes can’t hear people speaking on mic, or hear footsteps ect.
Any ideas on how to make it sound normal again?
Anyone who can help me solve this problem is awesome.
And gets an e-cookie.
Do a system restore. Click Start –> Programs –> Accessories –> System Tools –> System Restore. Restore at an earlier date about 5 days ago. Good luck.
OK, that didn’t work at all.
Sounds are still terrible.
And some don’t play at all.
Check the sound effects settings for you audio card (it should be in Control Pa, if no where else) maybe it has been set to 5,1 chan sound or something like that…also check your speakers, headset or whatever is plugged in the right hole

You could try this:
1. Find and download the latest driver for your sound card. Google it.
2. Uninstall your current sound driver and restart.
3. Install your updated sound driver.
4. Good luck.
Well, I found out something rather weird.
I go into Control Pa > Sounds and Audio Devices > Speaker Volume
The values are set like this:
Left: ——————|
Right: —————-|
I then change one of the values to this:
Left: |—————–
Right: —————|
I still have Stereo sound from my headphones, but without the weird noises.
However sounds are still not perfect.
Any ideas on why this happens?
What sort of sound card do you have ?
If it’s on board sound you may have a AC97 Audio Configuration control pa that you can open from Control Pa or maybe an icon in the system tray..
Is the headphone plug all the way in ?
problem may be in your soundcard, it may be fxxed.
