[vBulletin Issue] Could not use SMTP to send email
January 22nd, 2020
I’m running a community using vBulletin 3.6.2. Because of my hosting provider disabled the mail function, so I must use SMTP to send email via my forum.
Several months ago I set the configuration like this and All done.. The email system of the vbulletin is ok, working great.
SMTP Email -> Yes
SMTP Host -> smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port -> 465
SMTP Username -> myusername
SMTP Password -> mypassword
SMTP Secure Connection -> Yes
BUT recently, my vbulletin can not send emails.. and i check the mailbox.. it’s ok. But my vbulletin still can not send emails.
I get those error messages
Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to smtp.gmail.com:465 in /includes/class_mail.php on line 599
Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to smtp.googlemail.com:465 in /includes/class_mail.php on line 599
If you know, let me know. Thank you in advanced!
I’m looking forward your reply.
Same happened here .. no choice they gave me but to set the SMTP server to Local host and leave other fields blank
