ubuntu users

how do i create a new user in ubuntu because i can’t install these programs on root and when i try to create a new user it says i dont have enough access to install them etc…

But you should try and not use it.
What problems are you having with your current user?
Are you using sudo?

Never mind seem to have fixed it now, I had to add the user to sudoers (I was the user) and then at the final setup it wouldn’t let you run as root so I couldn’t use sudo. Then it did the configuration and couldn’t write the data so it was just endlessly trying to write data.
After 5 years google’ing I found a site that said to chown -R username /dir/ and I basically just gave the username access to / (everything…) that seemed to fix the problem :s
I’m sure there’s a better way around the problem than the way I did it, which is the reason why I didn’t edit the topic.
