Turning off your PC via a text message

i was just wondering if there are any apps that can switch your pc off with a text message while the pc is connected to the net.

No, you would have to send a code via Run command, CMD command, or Bash command. Not just a txt message.
Now maybe if they had OnStar technology in a PC then maybe.

i thought it could be possible since you can send texts from your pc via the internet so couldnt you receive them?, and a word in the text could trigger a command and shutdown the pc.

Script it yourself??
by sending an email message from your mobile to your pc.
with specific subject or something you can filter out. ofcourse you have to check email automatic at specific time..
just an idea..

Well as of today and right now, no you can not do this. It’s like sending a Txt message from a phone to AIM screen name and telling it to shutdown the PC.
It may be something in the future but right now no.

Not with an SMS but you might be able to with a MMS.
Outlook lets you create a rule that can run a script say on the arrival of an email with a specific subject and as MMS can be sent to email adresses that may well work…
