[SOLVED]Can only log on with proxyfor.eu

A few days ago, I suddenly found I could not access from my main PC getting the message “404 – File or directory not found.”
The only way I can now access on my main PC is by using the proxy service proxyfor.eu
I have a second PC that allows access to without any problems.
Both PC’s have exactly the same version of Kaspersky and I have not altered the hosts on either machine.
Both access the internet through the same router to the same ISP (TalkTalk)
Both are running win 8.1
Anybody have any ideas what might be causing this?

Check your host file for your main PC and remove any entries for . Most likely you are being directed to a server IP that isn’t working due to this.

You probably edited you host file some months ago when was having dns problems..
Now we have changed servers, those entries are no longer valid.

You’re correct, I had altered the hosts file a while ago – doh !
I have now removed the additions from the hosts file and it is now working fine.
